About
Through introducing new works, reviving the forgotten, and reanimating the classics, Pittsburgh saxophonist Daniel Muller encourages his audiences to explore more eagerly and appreciate more deeply the beauty surrounding them every day.
As a member of the Besozzi Trio, which explored the unique world of music for two saxophones and piano, Muller has been a winner of the Pittsburgh Concert Society Major Artists Competition, a quarterfinalist in the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, and a presenter for TedX at the University of Pittsburgh.
At the Navy Band Saxophone Symposium and the Osher Institute for Lifelong Learning, Muller has presented recitals and lectures showcasing the lives and music of Jewish composers the Holocaust nearly erased from history. Other lecture topics have included the history of music for wind instruments and American Classical music.
Muller holds an Advanced Music Studies Certificate from Carnegie Mellon University, where he performed the music of once-prominent American composer Paul Creston as winner of the 2018 CMU Wind Ensemble Concerto Competition.
Also holding degrees from Duquesne University (MM 2018) and Baldwin Wallace Conservatory (BM 2015), Muller has played in seemingly every kind of musical setting - from rock concerts and Broadway pits to big bands and symphony orchestras. James Houlik, Mike Tomaro, Keith Young, and Greg Banaszak number among his teachers.
An avid explorer of a breadth of topics, Muller spends his free time learning foreign languages, drawing, hiking, birding, and more.

On Friday the 20th, I went down to Carnegie Mellon University with Ji and Hyun Joo to compete in the Pittsburgh Concert Society Major Artists Competition. Our brief pre-performance run-through was encouraging; we knew our repertoire so well we can immediately solve any problem that arises.
